What's the course like?

The Half Marathon follows a circular route, starting and finishing in Memorial Park. Runners will head south of town and out into the countryside. The terrain is comprised of rolling hills, with a few moderate climbs. The course is USATF certified.

The 10K runs out into the countryside and a portion of the course is on gravel road. Runners will start in Memorial Park and end in Memorial Park.

The 5K is run on relatively the same route as the Half.  Runners will start in Memorial Park and end in Memorial Park.

What should I wear?

The average temperature in May is 59 degrees, but this is Minnesota. Dress appropriately.

Once you clear the New Prague city limits, the course is relatively open and is subject to some wind.

Most runners opt for standard shirt and running shorts. We do have a bag check at Memorial Park if you'd like to bring a change of clothes or shed layers before the race starts.

Where is there water on the course?

Our water and aid stations have water and Gatorade available.

Water/aid stations will be available at the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mile markers.

The 10K will have one water station out on the course.

What about timing?

The New Prague Half Marathon, 10K & 5K uses chip timing to time the event. Your Chip is disposable and is placed on the back of your bib. Gopher State Events will provide timing results.

Results are typically posted online by late afternoon of the event.  If there is a discrepency with your results, please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 952-758-4360 or info(at)

Absolutely no early starters are allowed on the racecourse. Individuals in violation of this rule will be disqualified and asked to leave the course. No automobiles, bicycles, baby joggers, roller skis, inline skates, handcycles, hand-cranked wheelchairs, pets or unofficial participants are allowed on the racecourse.

Does this race benefit a charity?

It was over 30 years ago that this race was started by passionate runners and local businesses to fill two voids - a half marathon distance to prepare folks for upcoming marathons and to bring people to New Prague.  The New Prague Chamber of Commerce has been a proud presenter of the race, and we've had a number of generous sponsors from Robin Hood Flour, Schumacher's Restaurant, Community Security Bank, Mayo Clinic Health System New Prague and The Fitness Center.

This tradition has brought thousands of folks to New Prague and it enhances our economy and tourism.  The recipient of the funds is the New Prague Chamber of Commerce, and we utilize the funds to enhance & promote our community, our local businesses and Shop Local campaigns.

The New Prague Chamber of Commerce has over 200 member businesses who appreciate your business and support year round.  The New Prague community consists of many small, family-owned businesses, yet all businesses are dedicated to hard work and customer service - knowing it's their neighbors, friends, and friends of New Prague who are their customers.

Where do I find out my results?

Results will be posted at the link below in 2022!

Anything else?

For your safety, we ask that you maintain a 13 minute/mile pace (half runners), a 15 minute/mile for 10K and 5Kers. If you cannot maintain that pace, we will ask you to leave the course.

The half marathon course will close at 11:00 a.m. If you are not finished at that time you will either be provided a ride back to Memorial Park or finish at your own risk.
